This hummus recipe incorporates the classic chickpeas, tahini, garlic and lemon juice along with some extra spices that make this hummus extra tasty!

Spicy Hummus Recipe

Chickpeas are one of those legumes that are so versatile. When blended they take on a rich and creamy texture, with some added sesame paste the dip takes on a whole new meaning! If you’re looking for a low fat option you can use half of the tahini and it will still taste just as good. In today’s hummus recipe we’re using canned chickpeas for a quick and easy dip.

Spicy Hummus

For an extra creamy spicy hummus recipe you can always skin the chickpeas, however if you can’t wait to eat your hummus you can leave this out. Most of the ingredients can be found in any store, tahini these days can usually be found at the supermarket in the health food aisle. When storing tahini it’s best to keep it in the fridge to help it last for a long time! Surprisingly the sesame seed paste won’t get rock hard like oils when stored in the cold.

Hummus

Besides hummus, tahini is an excellent ingredient to use in salad dressings, sauces for grilled foods and sandwiches. It makes for a great creamy substitute. There are many variety of ways to make hummus, this however is my favourite! The spices, red crushed red pepper and lemon juice help give this hummus a real kick!
