When I'm in the mood for a chocolate treat, I always make these one bowl vegan chocolate brownies! My chocolate brownie recipe is super delicious and low fat. These brownies are super decadent and rich, they are especially tasty with vegan whipped cream or ice-cream for a super treat!

I've kept this vegan chocolate brownies recipe very simple with cocoa powder, flour (can be wheat or gluten free) and sugar as the main ingredients. Because I'm a health nut, I like to remove oils whenever possible. You'll be surprised how tasty desserts can be without it! I especially love chocolate brownies with strawberries, blueberries or blackberries.

Unlike other vegan brownie recipes, you can actually eat these brownies every day if you wanted to, without the guilt! Cocoa powder has been known for it's health benefits for centuries, it's fantastic for lowering blood pressure, brain health and is packed full of antioxidants which help to neutralize the oxygen-based free radicals that are present in the body.

I love serving this delicious vegan chocolate brownie with some melted vegan chocolate dribbled over the top, you can also sprinkle over some cacao nibs (which a much healthier) or some mixed berries. I hope you enjoy these healthy low fat chocolate brownies!

Rich and delicious one bowl vegan chocolate brownies. These are low in fat and extremely dececant chocolate brownies and best served with non-dairy ice cream!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250g) plain flour
  • 1.5 cups (460g) sugar
  • 3/4 cup (90g) cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (250ml) water
  • 1 cup (250ml) non-dairy milk
  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed or chia
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup chopped Walnuts (optional)
  • Topping Ideas
  • Melted Chocolate Sauce
  • Cacao Nibs
  • Berries
  • Ice Cream
  • Chopped nuts with maple syrup
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Line 20cmx30cm baking tray with baking paper.
  2. In a large bowl stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, flaxseed (or chia) and salt. Pour in water, non-dairy milk and vanilla; mix until well blended. Optionally you can add in the walnuts now if needed and fold through Spread evenly in baking tray.
  3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven until the top is no longer shiny. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
  4. Optional: You can melt your favourite vegan chocolate and pour over the top of brownie as a sauce. Great served with strawberries!
